Joint Enquiry

Joint Enquiry is an effective way for change leaders to engage with others when attempting to change organisations and create something new. Watch Stephen Billing explain Joint Enquiry in this clip.

  1. Knowledge emerges only through invention and reinvention, through the restless, impatient, continuing, hopeful inquiry humans pursue in the world...with each other. Paulo Freire, Pedagogy of the Oppressed Ch.2 p.53;Continuum,1999. I have been told Paulo is out of fashion at present. He is accused of not coming up with the goods. BUT I believe what Stephen Billing calls joint enquiry and what Freire calls inquiry with each other are very respectful ways of exploring story and point of view. The new emerges ,initiating change happens. I have found this so working with resistant court referred men who have been referred to a non-violence programme. It also models respect for people and non violence.
